Spring has sprung and it’s time to start preparing for rising temperatures! Taking the time to inspect, repair, and prevent now will limit the number of surprises you face when summer rolls around. Here are six tips to get you started!
- Inspect the Exterior
Check the outside of your home for areas in need of repair. Look for chipping paint, clogged gutters, swollen wood, cracks in masonry work, and issues with your roof.
- Windows & Screens
Examine all of your windows on the interior and exterior, checking for leaks and gaps in the sealant. While you’re at it, give them a scrub to allow more natural light into your home.
- Prepare for Insects
Termites swarm in the spring, so keep an eye out for winged creatures entering or exiting any woodwork around your home. Spring is also a great time to find and address areas of standing water around your property, which will help prevent mosquitos down the road.
- Check Irrigation Systems
If you have an in-ground sprinkler system, be sure to run through all of the zones on your property, checking for broken sprinkler heads and gaps in coverage.
- Service Your A/C
Your local A/C company to have your unit serviced and be sure to change out your air filters.
- Tackle Clutter
As you go about your spring cleaning, designate a space for toys and clothes that will be sold or donated.
Keeping these tips in mind will help you keep your home in tip-top shape for years to come and ensure you’re ready to enjoy warmer temperatures and sunny weather!
